Appel Direct

Appel Direct is a guitar duo specialising in Gypsy guitar styles from around Europe, notably Manouche or Gypsy Jazz. They have a passion for acoustic music and a shared ideal to 'keep it live'. Solid rhythms and fiery solos are the trademarks of this kind of music, which draws influences from many older folk styles, as well as 20th century swing. They frequently play with a double bass, clarinet and violin.

Duende

7-8 piece Cuban Salsa band led by vocalist Ramon Vallejo. They play a mixture of Cuban styles and feature tunes from the Buena Vista Social Club, Mongo Santamaria and Santana.

Brasiliance

Elegant Latin jazz and modern standards characterise this Devon- based quintet, led by pianist, composer and jazz educationalist Lewis Riley. Based around the vocals of Noelle Kadory, this band can deliver a rich varety of moods, from gentle ballads and Bossa Novas to up-tempo swing and exhilarating Sambas.

Alkasalsa

Alkasalsa

Specialising in son and salsa for the club scene, their repertoire of original material and favourite hits also includes meregue, cumbia and soca to suit the wider festival audience. Strong on vocals, the line-up features sonera Petronella Coolen plus a 4-part coro section. A solid core of percussion (congas, bongos and timbales), bass and piano, is punctuated by a blistering horn section: trumpet, trombone, flute and saxes.
